TABLESCAPE THURSDAY - Hubby's BD Dinner

Special thanks to Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for hosting Tablescape Thursday, each and every week. It's so much fun to visit all the blogs and see such creative tablescapes!

I'm coming in a bit late today. I had to wait until I got home from work to post. Last week we celebrated my Honey's 49th birthday. I made all his favorite things. Smothered Chicken, Mashed potatoes & gravy, Corn, Crescent rolls, and for dessert - Rice Krispie Ice Cream Dessert. He LOVED it! I figured since it was his special day, that I would set a "manly" table. I don't have a lot of "specialty" type dishes, plates, things like that. I don't really collect dishes. I tend to accent more with table linens, napkin rings, and other table decor or theme related items. I just do my best with what the Lord has given me.

I love anything in Adirondack style. That would be moose, pine trees, canoes, ducks, etc... We decorated our family room, master bedroom and master bath, all in that style. I find it a very peaceful, relaxing and cozy decor. Most of the items I used for the table, were taken from those 3 rooms. We have a local store called Northern Reflections, and it is dangerous for me to go in there! haha I am just a sucker for Adirondack decor. For Christmas one year, my Honey bought me a log bed - I LOVE it!

This pic turned out a bit blurry, but I think you get the idea. I just love this little canoe and set of oars.

  1. I love your Adirondack theme -- the camp look is so cozy, and yes -- masculine! I am going to have to remember this when my husband's next birthday rolls around...or maybe Father's Day. What a great idea, to tailor the tabletop to his tastes.

Thanks! (Plus, I got a HUGE kick out of the preface of the smothered chicken recipe. How else would the chicken be prepared? I guess I maybe don't want to know.)

  2. LOL Cass! I think they were saying - chop it's head off as opposed to "smothering" the chicken! haha
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the laugh!

  6. Hi Starr,
This is my first visit to you site. I have been blogging a little over a month, so still finding my way around. I did not do a tablescape this week, but still wanted to sight see! I am a huge fan of Adirondack style so especially enjoyed your post. I saw a TV show that covered the history of the region that was very interesting. Someday if I am lucky I would like to vacation there. I love the whimsical handcrafted furniture that came out of that area. I noticed you list A Taste of Home on your favorite recipe sites. I have been a subscriber for years. It has great photos for inspiration and a down to earth practice approach that works for my family. I drive myself crazy looking for that hidden toothpick! One last thing, tonight I started at the bottom of the tablescape list, because the two times I participated I also posted late. Take care and be well.
    Blessings, Cathy

  7. I know you don't know me, but because, I want to follow only "wholesome" blogs, I follow yours. We have a lot in common, it seems; both Independent Baptist pastor's wives. Also, my husband is getting ready to celebrate his bd (a little older, though, 52) on the 6th of April. Love the tablescape idea, especially, the masculine part for his birthday. Thank you for your ideas. Gail Moore
