APPLEBEE'S BLONDIE

Have you ever had a Blondie from Applebees? Does this look yummy? Well it's not the right recipe! LOL I have been to at least 20 different sites looking for a copy cat recipe for the Blondie like Applebees makes. And NONE of them are right. Most of them say the sauce is: butter, brown sugar, maple syrup and nuts. But that can't be right because Applebees sauce is white, thick and has a slight tartness to it. The sauce for the recipe I made on Sunday was "close" but still not quite on the money. The Blondie recipe itself, was TOTALLY wrong. So I'm still on a quest for the RIGHT copy cat recipe for Applebees Blondie! I won't rest until I find it and make it. My family and I all love that dessert! They humored me on Sunday and said it was good, but I'm a big girl - they wouldn't have hurt my feelings if they would have told me the truth! LOL I knew it was blah and not the right one.
I'm off to hunt some more! ~*sigh*~

Hi, Starr. I was on a search for the perfect Blondie recipe tonight. I had one I got from the web about 5 years ago but lost it. The sauce in this one sounds close:

I don't think I used the maple extract, though. If you find the right one be sure to post it!

i think that in order to get the right consistency for the sauce, you have to use sweetened condensed milk with maple syrup and butter. i'm trying this receipe tonight. i'll let you know.

I have a recipe for a Vanilla Sauce that a local bakery puts on their bread pudding, but I thought it tasted alot more like the Applebees white sause than those others. It is
1 1/3 C butter
5 tablespoons flour
3 C heavy whip cream
2 tsp. Vanilla
1/3 C sugar
1/8 tsp salt
Over medium heat melt butter, and add flour stir 10 minutes unitl it has a nutty aroma, do not brown. Add salt, cream and sugar and boil till mixture is thick, remove from heat and add vanilla. Serve warm or cold.

You could add some maple flavoring if you thought you needed it, but this sauce tastes great! I could eat it alone.

Hello,

I am also looking for the recipe. I have searched online but have yet to find anything. Did you happen to find the recipe for the actual blondie? If you could let me know, that would be great!

I saw one on sisterscafe.blogspot.com. I haven't tried it yet, so I'm not sure how close to Applebee's it is, but I'm planning on it soon. Looks delish!!!!

The sauce definitely has cream cheese in it. That is what gives it the whiteness and the tart taste.

Try one of these:
• FOR THE SAUCE:
• 2 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter
• 1-½ cup Heavy Cream
• 6 Tablespoons Maple Syrup
• 3 Tablespoons Light Corn Syrup
• Optional Garnish: Vanilla Ice Cream, Chopped Walnuts

OR

1 c. cream
½ c. white chocolate chips
¼ c. granulated sugar
1/4 tsp. maple extract
1 c. sour cream
Directions
Combine cream, chips and sugar in a saucepan and cook, constantly stirring on medium heat.
About 1 minute after it is bubbly and thickened, remove from heat. Be careful not to burn the sugary sauce.
Add maple flavoring and sour cream and stir until combined.
Sauce will thicken more as it cools.
